FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE, Sep 22, 2026
MANHATTAN, NYC — The Federal Money Services Business Association (FedMSB) today introduced AmeriUSD (Spanish: AmeriDólar; Chinese: 美利金; Japanese: デジタルドル), a new industry brand and initiative for the development of dollar-based digital payment, remittance, and settlement infrastructure serving U.S. Money Services Businesses (MSBs).
AmeriUSD is intended to provide the U.S. MSB industry with a shared framework for the next generation of digital-dollar infrastructure. Over time, the initiative may support common standards, participation frameworks, technical interoperability, and settlement infrastructure connecting MSBs with banks, payment companies, financial technology providers, digital-asset infrastructure, and other financial participants.
AmeriUSD is not intended to be limited to a particular token, blockchain, or issuance model. Its broader purpose is to support compliant, interoperable digital-dollar payment and settlement capabilities as stablecoin technology becomes more integrated into mainstream financial services.
Money services businesses have long played an essential role in moving money across communities, borders, and financial networks. As digital dollars become more integrated into payment and settlement systems, FedMSB believes a dedicated industry framework can help advance standards, interoperability, responsible innovation, and collaboration.
“MSBs should not merely adapt to the next generation of payment infrastructure; they should help shape it,” said Mr. Young, President of FedMSB. “AmeriUSD gives the U.S. MSB industry a platform for that transition, grounded in the practical needs of regulated money services businesses and the customers and businesses they serve.”
AmeriUSD is organized around four core principles:
Built for MSBs. AmeriUSD is centered on the operational needs of money services businesses and real-world payment, remittance, foreign-exchange, and settlement activity.
Dollar-Based Payments and Settlement. AmeriUSD is focused on dollar-denominated financial activity and efficient digital infrastructure for moving and settling value.
Compliance-Oriented Development. Regulatory compliance, BSA/AML controls, sanctions compliance, consumer protection, risk management, and responsible financial practices are intended to be foundational to any future AmeriUSD implementation.
Interoperability and Network Development. AmeriUSD is intended to encourage common technical standards, participation frameworks, and interoperability across MSBs, banks, payment companies, financial technology providers, digital-asset infrastructure, and the broader payment ecosystem.
Today’s announcement establishes the AmeriUSD brand and industry initiative.
Any future implementation involving stablecoin issuance, reserves, custody, redemption, blockchain infrastructure, participating financial institutions, or regulated financial services will be announced separately and structured in accordance with applicable legal and regulatory requirements.
FedMSB expects AmeriUSD to provide a platform for continued industry collaboration and the long-term development of interoperable payment, remittance, and settlement infrastructure for the U.S. MSB sector.
