MANHATTAN, NYC — The Federal Money Services Business Association (FedMSB) today announced the publication of Mecroeconomics: A Meta-Architecture of Economic Reality, a new scholarly monograph authored by FedMSB’s Chief Economist and published by FFEdu.

The book addresses a fundamental problem in economic analysis: how different economic objects, processes, institutions, theories, and forms of evidence can be connected without treating analytically distinct phenomena as interchangeable.

Rather than proposing a replacement for existing schools or branches of economics, Mecroeconomics develops an integrative architecture for locating economic objects, distinguishing their functions and states, connecting different levels of analysis, and testing economic claims against evidence.

At the center of the book is a principle of non-substitution. Production is not allocation; institutional standing is not execution; payment is not delivery; a record is not the reality it represents; and a sequence of events is not, by itself, a causal mechanism. The book argues that preserving such distinctions is essential to determining where economic theories apply, how they can be connected, and where their explanatory limits lie.

A 4+1 Architecture

Across 17 chapters and a methodological appendix, Mecroeconomics develops a “4+1” architecture that distinguishes four within-cycle economic responsibilities—formation, allocation, instituted standing, and monetary execution—from a separate cross-cycle responsibility concerned with how present economic activity changes the possibilities inherited by subsequent periods.

The architecture is applied across production, markets, property and contracts, money and credit, payments, innovation, economic systems, balance sheets, time, coordination, crises, and structural change.

Connecting Economic Reality and Evidence

The book also introduces RealityLocation (RL) and RepresentationIndex (RI) to distinguish the economic reality addressed by a claim from the data, records, classifications, and models through which that reality is represented.

Together, these tools address a basic empirical question: Does the evidence being used actually correspond to the economic reality the claim is intended to explain?

The final sections of Mecroeconomics turn the same scrutiny toward the proposed architecture itself. The book establishes procedures for comparing explanatory alternatives and allows more specialized theories to take priority when they preserve the relevant economic inference with fewer analytical commitments.

Mecroeconomics: A Meta-Architecture of Economic Reality is intended for economists, researchers, graduate students, and readers interested in economic methodology, institutions, monetary systems, and the foundations of economic analysis.
